Chronophage Clock Unveiled at Cambridge

e can’t be recaptured, or recreated, in our non-virtual world. Viewed more darkly, time is “used up,” or eaten. The “Corpus,” clock unveiled by Professor Stephen Hawking on September 19, 2008, at Cambridge University, expands on the chronophagic (time eating) theme using embellishments on a 300 year old mechanism called a “Grasshopper Escapement.” There is also an interesting video featuring John Taylor, the clock’s creator, and its operation.
